ACE Missoula welcomes new electrical engineer

MISSOULA, MONT., August 9, 2021 – Associated Construction Engineering Inc. is pleased to welcome Darin van Oosterhout as an electrical engineer to the ACE Missoula team. A 2014 graduate of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Mr. van Oosterhout received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering focusing on power distribution and electric motors. He is a licensed PE in Montana.

Mr. van Oosterhout (Ooster pronounced like “toaster” and hout like “how” with a t) enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and dirt biking, and it’s best when a trip combines more than one of his interests. He’s also a bit (probably an understatement) of a gearhead. He moved to Montana in 2014 to work for a company in Kalispell that designs and builds test stands for aerospace and automotive applications. These test stands tested rotating equipment such as your car’s transmission or a Boeing’s APU. Since 2018, Mr. van Oosterhout has been in engineering consulting.

Q: Would you rather design the rocket that gets humanity to Mars or build your dream car?

A: Once I finish designing the rocket, I bet I’ll have some free time to build that car, so I’ll start with the rocket.

Q: What is your dream car?

A: You won’t get a straight answer from me. My dream car will be dependent on what it’s built for. Tough to beat a first-generation Camaro, though.

Q: Would you take a trip to Mars on a rocket you had a part in designing?

A: Not at this point in time.

Welcome to the team, Darin.
